Skippack EMS is excited to announce the purchase of 3 new LUCAS devices with the help of Skippack Township
The LUCAS (Lund University Cardiopulmonary Assist System) device is a mechanical chest compression system that helps healthcare providers give consistent chest compressions to patients in cardiac arrest. These devices allow providers to provide additional care to the patient in cardiac arrest while also reducing the need for additional manpower during a cardiac arrest transport to a hospital.
In 2012, we received a very generous private donation from a Skippack resident to purchase our first LUCAS 2 device. At the time, Skippack EMS was the first EMS squad in Montgomery County to put this device in service.
Now, 12 years later, and with the generous support of Skippack Township, we were able to purchase three new LUCAS 3 devices. These new devices will replace the existing LUCAS devices that have reached the end of their service life.
