SEMS hosted a special event coordinated by cardiac arrest survivor James (Pat) Beiter on Valentines Day, February 14, 2017. While playing a basketball game in December 2016 at a local church, Beiter went into sudden cardiac arrest. Beiter benefited from immediate CPR from his team mates and others at attendance at the game, and a quick response from the volunteers at Skippack Fire Company, Officers from Skippack Ambulance and providers from Lower Providence Ambulance. Beiter coordinated the event with SEMS and assembled most of the people responsible for providing CPR, from his buddies and teammates to first responders. In his presentation, Beiter provided statistics on how he beat the odds, and offered a heartfelt thanks to those who enabled him to enjoy a future with his loving family and friends. He also spoke of the importance of CPR training, and AED availability in churches and businesses. Beiter and his family provided pizza and refreshments after the presentation. Everyone at SEMS thanks Mr. Beiter and his family for coordinating such a special event, and we wish the Beiter's all the best in the years to come!
